The Features of Service Bookings

Built for Sole Traders, by Sole Traders

This app works best for individuals 'soletraders' who receive numerous messages (enquiries) from both known and unknown contacts, at all times of the day and night, generally for the purpose of booking a service of some kind. 


There is of course a process to this workflow which most people find as repetitive and boring but know that it's an essential cog in the wheel for their income generation. These activities are also time consuming and that's a real pain point for most service providers.


We invested our time instead into developing an app that tackles these problems head on and so far for us it's done all that and more! 


We mapped out the processes for our own business and found similarities that apply to other types of service based businesses as well. With our Market Templates users get the most suitable version for them, saving valuable time on setup and customizations and without the learning curve, providing them with instant gratification and a plug & play solution.

The Soul of your Contacts & Communication

For SoleTrader.app the 'Booking a Service' process has several stages. There are variations to this workflow and that's why the app is fully customizable, to cater to the nuances of your own business communication processes.

Receive Enquiries

Each interaction with a new contact starts with the Conversation Checklist to ensure all necessary information is exchanged. Completed items are marked next to the contact's name in the main messages index for easy tracking.

Identify Contacts

As conversations progress, collect critical booking details including the type of service, duration, and price. These details can be entered manually, selected from the dropdown menus or the Services Menu Bar feature.

Organize Contacts

Apply Status Rings to contacts and their bookings on the messages index page. This visual tool helps organize and prioritize communications and bookings while the new Time Pinning feature developed here first takes your booking times directly into your chat interface for an effortless interaction between you and your contacts.

Arrange Bookings

Once the service details are agreed upon, negotiate a booking time. Use the right-click context menu to pin the agreed time, creating a Time Pin that appears at the top of the main messages index page for organized scheduling.

Service Contacts

When a contact arrives for their booking, manually start the booking timer. The app provides audible notifications when Time Pins are reached, alerting you to the upcoming appointment.

Chat with Contacts

Upon completion of the service, stop the timer. The app automatically updates booking statistics and triggers an auto-naming feature for the contact based on the number of bookings they have.

Build Profiles

After service completion, input payment details and the amount received through a user-prompt popup. The app includes a basic ledger for notes on financial transactions, such as outstanding amounts.

Activity & Interaction

When unavailable for direct messaging, activate the customizable auto-responder to handle all incoming enquiries with pre-set messages, indicated by an (A) symbol in the notification area.
